As a proud citizen of Stokes County, I have taken advantage of every opportunity presented to me in which I could personally make a positive impact in this community. I view running for a seat on the Stokes County Commission as a continuation of my interest in improving our community. Many years ago I chose Stokes County as the place where I would raise my family, and the place where I would start my business. Stokes County is my home. I have chosen to run for a seat on the County Commission because I sincerely believe this is the most crucial time for us as citizens, and the decisions that are made over the next four years will have a long-lasting and dynamic impact on the future growth and welfare of this great county.

My years of experience in owning a small business have taught me how to be both efficient and frugal with resources at hand, and I am confident that this experience will help guide me in decisions that will make the most of County assets. I have maintained an active outdoor lifestyle through with my deep involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. It is through this involvement that I have personally experienced the incredible beauty of Stokes County and come to realize the great value of our precious natural resources. When elected to serve as a County Commissioner, I will make protecting these valuable resources a priority. I believe that we must work to insure that Stokes County remains in a position to take advantage of the opportunities created by such a wealth of natural resources, and we must find a way to integrate successful tourism and recreation businesses into our community.

I feel that perhaps the greatest challenge that Stokes County faces is that of improving our educational system, and more specifically, our educational facilities. As parts of our county experience the many positives that come along with residential development, we can all see pains of that growth as it places a greater strain on our school system. There are currently eleven school buildings in our county which are over 40 years old. Mt Olive Elementary now has more students in trailers than in the buildings. Nancy Reynolds Elementary is in need of major structural repairs. I feel that we must take advantage of this opportunity to come together as a community and work to find solutions for the issues of facility upgrades and repairs, how to staff our schools with motivated teachers that we can be excited about, and raising Stokes County education to the level that it becomes a draw to the type of residential and commercial development that will increase our tax base and allow us to provide more and improved county services.

While I am proud to be a Democrat, it is my strong belief that Americans are sick and tired of partisan politics getting in the way of progress. My hope is to be successful running a bi-partisan campaign that addresses the needs of all citizens of this great county. When elected, my policy will be to serve in a non-partisan manner and to become a catalyst for bringing our community together to work for what is truly best for every one of us that calls Stokes County home.
